The European Spallation Source is involved in a number of projects funded by European, regional and national grants

ESS is currently involved in projects under the framework Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission. Horizon 2020 is the largest EU programme for research and innovation, which encourages breakthroughs to drive economic growth in Europe.

ESS, through Melissa Sharp, is also currently involved in a project under the prestigious Human Frontiers Science Programme (HFSP). Since the start of HFSP back in 1989, 28 of its awardees have been also been awarded the Nobel Prize.

Concurrently, ESS is involved in projects funded by Swedish funding agencies, such as Vinnova and the Swedish Research Council, Vetenskapsrådet, as well as by the regional funding agencies NordForsk and Interreg Baltic Sea Region.
