Research Interests
Michail Anastasopoulos received his diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics alongside a CAD/CAM specialization from the University of Patras, Greece in 2009. Soon after that he joined CERN's Survey group and in specific the CLIC pre-alignment team. There he worked for 4 years on the mechanical design and integration of supporting systems and validation prototypes for the alignment systems within the different test-module configurations. These systems typically had to meet micrometric tolerances in terms of accuracy, stability and repeatability. His duties consisted of the complete concept-to-realization design process from the initial conceptual design all the way to final 3d models, analysis, tolerancing and fabrication drawings through the use of various CAD and FEA tools. As of 1stĀ September 2014, Michail is part of the ESS Detector group as Lead Detector Design Engineer where he is going to be involved in the design and development of different detector prototypes and large scale demonstrators as well as actual detectors for instruments for reflectometry, beam-monitors, spectroscopy and SANS applications.
