Nicholai Mauritzson is a lab assistant with the Detector Group (DG) at the ESS. He works together with the DG scientists, helping out with experimental setups, CAD design, 3D printing and general fabrication. He is also involved in the design and construction of new detector prototypes.
Nicholai finished his Bachelors degree with a focus towards experimental particle physics in 2016. He is currently working with ESS while studying towards a Masters degree in nuclear physics which he is planning to finish in early 2018. He finished his Masters project together with the Neutron Optics and Shielding Group at ESS during 2016-2017 where he designed, built and tested a portable fast-neutron tracking detector, meant for background characterization of spallation sources.
Nicholai was also heavily involved during the initial development of the Source Testing Facility at Lund University where he aided in the general planning, fabrication and setup of all equipment and infrastructure.
