Target
Work is ongoing for the Dog Leg cover, with castings performed on both the north and the south side this week. The 8m high retaining wall on the north side is also progressing. Erection of the prefab concrete walls, and steel structure is also starting up in the Accelerator to Target area. Precast concrete elements have been placed in the Target Entrance Building area, and superstructure erection will follow.
Accelerator
In the Accelerator tunnel, work is ongoing inside the Cryo Transfer Line (CTL) gallery on the modules connecting the Cryo Distribution System (CDS) to the Coldbox Hall, and subsequently the helium compressor building. At the same time, more CDS units are arriving on site, and welding is ongoing for the valve box interconnections. RFQ (Radio Frequency Quadrupole) installation is currently in progress in the Linac, and the pulling and connecting of cables to termination points is underway in the RFQ area.
Erection of more steel structures in the high beta section of the Gallery Building is ongoing, along with cable drawing, and piping and raceways installations for the rack rows.
General
Work on the ESS Campus is progressing well. Campus consists of three buildings; the Office Building, where five floors of steel and precast concrete have been completed, with roof and facade works in progress; the Warehouse & Labs building, where the in-situ cast foundations have been completed and steel and precast erection is currently ongoing; and the Entrance Building, where foundations, including retaining walls towards the future rainwater ponds, have been cast.
By the end of the year, both of the first two buildings are expected to be watertight. Landscaping work around the different buildings is already in progress, to ensure a green, flourishing environment.
