The European Spallation Source recruits worldwide. Vacancies are advertised on our website, as well as in various global media outlets, and always in Europe.

Recruitment Statement

Our aim is to ensure that staff is employed on the basis of ability and the requirements for the job. Selection of Candidates

The selection of candidates is usually done 1-2 weeks after the application deadline. When selecting candidates we consider the candidate's knowledge (education, experiences), skills (ability to do the work, performance) and attitude (motivation, suitability for the position, behavioural competences).

Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you either to invite you for an interview, or to inform you that you are no longer being considered for the position.

Hiring Process

We always conduct two interviews.

The first interview focuses on the technical requirements and competences of the position, whereas the second interview focuses more on the behavioural competences essential for the position.

We will ask you for concrete examples of situations in the past where you may have had to demonstrate these competencies.

Well-Being at ESS

Once we have recruited our competent staff, it's time to make sure that we keep them! At ESS, we see well-being among staff as an important factor in job satisfaction. We think physical, psychological and social well-being all are vital parts in creating a well-functioning work atmosphere. We as an organisation would like to contribute in the best possible way, and wish to facilitate easy access to different kinds of activities promoting this.
