At the ESS Construction Site, casting is ongoing in the Target Building (D02). The walls around the six waste pits in the Active Cells area are being casted Tuesday. This is a major casting job with over 200 m3 of concrete, both standard and heavy, to be poured. Three concrete pumps are placed around the Active Cells area, and the casting is predicted to take 16 hours, with almost 100 vibrators to be used when pouring the concrete.
Another two base slab castings are planned for Experimental Hall 1 (D01) later this week. A base slab for the basement of the Admin & Loading area within the Target Building is also being cast.
A rubber strip, specially designed to withhold activated water, is now in place around the edges of the Active Cells, which means the build-up of the Technical Gallery can now proceed.
