Last week on the construction site, the sectional handover of the Klystron Gallery (G02) from Skanska to ESS was completed. These building handovers are an important marker of progress for the construction project. The Gallery Building’s test stand area is now equipped with an overhead crane, an energized modulator, a clean water system, a caged high-voltage system and two klystrons.
Bottom slab works continued in the A2T and Utility areas of the Target Station (D02), and the first casting of the retaining wall between the D03 instrument hall and the long-range guide hall was performed. The instrument beamlines will pass through openings in this wall on their way to the E01 instrument hall, where MEP works continue. The lab buildings (E03, E04) are undergoing installation of their facades, as the E buildings push toward weather-tight status.
And finally, excavation has begun on a new building at the southeast end of the site near the Accelerator's Front End Building. The Logistics Centre, known as F03, will be a 2,000 square metre warehouse and office space to be used for shipping and receiving of goods to ESS.
