Last week on the construction site was dominated by work in all areas of the Target Building (D02).
Preparations to cast the final set of Monolith walls before next month’s casting of the vault itself are nearing their end. Reinforcement for the massive Accelerator-to-Target (A2T) area walls began. Meanwhile, base slab castings completed last week or planned for this week include sections of the Utility, A2T and Technical areas, as well as sections of the D01 and D03 instrument halls. That’s a lot of concrete. Piling for D04 and D08 lab buildings also moved forward.
Out at the E-Buildings, a temporary wall is being installed on the target-end of the long-range beamline gallery (E02) to make the building weather-tight for installations and fittings to continue indoors, while sandwich panels are installed permanently along the sides of the building. Interior works continue in the E04 lab and the large instrument hall (E01).
