Last week on the construction site, the first of four major castings for the 3.5-metre-thick Accelerator-to-Target (A2T) tunnel walls was completed.
Castings for the Target Station (D02) scheduled for this week include a wall in the Transport area, two walls in the Technical Gallery, one slab section for the D01 instrument hall, three slabs for the D03 instrument hall, and part of the vault in the Utility area.
Inside the Accelerator Tunnel (G01), testing and other preparations continue in advance of the commissioning of the LINAC's ion source and low-energy beam transport line (LEBT).
Interior works continue in the two lab buildings, E03 and E04. Installation of gypsum boards, ceilings, perforations and painting are all under way. Electrical installations are also in progress throughout all of the E-buildings.
