Target
At the same time as superstructure erection is ongoing in all areas of the Target, more and more work will continue in parallel with our remaining scope next year. ESS's Target Division already has parallel access to the Active Cell building, where steel plates are currently being welded to the ceiling. This will soon be followed by steel plates attached along the walls inside the process cell. The steel for the beam dump will arrive on site mid-December, and will be taken in via the Loading Bay to the Dog Leg area. ESS will receive the Target Monolith vessel in February, and the start of construction of the target bunker is also scheduled for February, starting with brackets in a circle around one side of the Monolith.
Epoxy treatment of the ramps between Experimental Hall1 and Hall 2 has been performed - this should be finished by the end of the month.
General
Completion is underway of the installations, testing and quality inspections leading up to the Sectional Handovers of two of the lab buildings next month. This includes completion and acceptance of the final quality issues, completion and closing of any non-conformity reports and completion of final commissioning activities, including all system acceptance testing.
Installation works in Central Utility Building are in the final stages, which will enable power energisation early December and commissioning in the first quarter of 2020. This will pave the way for ESS's Integrated Control System Division to start their operations in the Server Room on the second floor of the building, and for electrical installations on the ground floor to continue.
The second set of walls for the Waste Treatment Building have been cast, with more form and reinforcement to come..
