Target
The superstructure erection and sandwich panels up on the high bay are progressing well. In the Dog Leg, water stops have been installed, and the last big casting of the cover is scheduled just before Christmas. Early next year work will proceed with finishing off the retaining wall on the south side and back-filling of the area.
Inside the Target Building, grinding of the walls on basement level of the round Monolith continues and surface treatment is expected to start next week. Grinding of walls on level 100 is completed and is followed by small repair jobs of the surface. Painting work is in progress on several levels.
New power cables are being drawn and two large electrical cabinets are being installed inside the basement of one of the labs, which will feed the rest of the target buildings with temporary power. District heating is planned to commence in January and will heat all parts of the Monolith, Utility and Technical Gallery via temporary large heating fans connected to the district heating.
Work on the cave foundation for the NMX macromolecular diffractometer instrument has started. One of the lab buildings was successfully handed over to ESS this week - the other lab building will follow later this month.
Accelerator
The temporary wall between the Cryogenic Transfer Line Gallery (the culvert connecting the Gallery Building coldbox to the accelerator) has been removed, and the connection pipes are being fitted between the largest coldbox and the Cryo Distribution System in the tunnel.
