Target
In the A2T, Accelerator to Target, the precast filigree slabs for top level 150 are ongoing. In the Technical Galleries, the floor treatment has been completed and floors covered with plywood in order for installation works to begin. Steel in the Transport Hall has been removed and will be rebuilt, in accordance with new tolerance calculations. An overhead crane is due to be installed in the Hall, and so crane rails have been welded into place in preparation.
Fitting of the steel liner in the Active Cell is completed for all walls in the maintenance cell and is ongoing in the process cell. Sandwich panels are in place for the beamline wall area of Experimental Hall 2, and works with TRP (Tremco Roof Preservative) roofing is due to begin. The missing steel bars for the roof trusses in Experimental Hall 1 have arrived, and more steel is being fitted over the hall.
T-supports around the dog leg emergency exit were installed last week, with each element weighing 6.3 tonne. Recalculations of the shielding requirements have resulted in some design changes for the dog leg cover, and in line with this, more rebar and concrete are now being added to the box. The dog leg extension on the north side was cast last week, with the south side will follow. To finish off the dog leg area, the retaining walls on each side will be completed, after which the area will be refilled and geomembrane and coconut mesh will be added, all to be completed by August.
Accelerator
In the Gallery, the second klystron has now been put in place, alongside the first already positioned next to the modulator, and filled up with oil. Each modulator feeds two klystrons. Waveguide installations continue and the DTL (Drift Tube Linac) tanks are in progress on the Gallery and Linac side. This work includes pulling cable, terminations, and waveguide and circulator installations. DTL tank no.1 is due to be placed in the tunnel this July. The fence around the Test Stand 2 bunker area is in place, and installation of the helium collector pipe is currently ongoing in the Spokes section of the tunnel. This pipe runs from the CTL (Cryo Transfer Line) Gallery all the way to the end box of the cryogenic system in the section.
General
ESS's NSS (Neutron Scattering Systems) Division are currently in progress with preparations for the installation of R6 curved beam and vertical pillars on the north side of the Monolith (Experimental Hall 2 side). A Temporary Installation Structure (TIS) to facilitate the installation is built on site. The beam will be bolted to the diagonal wall brackets already in place in the Monolith, and the pillars will be attached to the previously installed R6 brackets and the curved beam on top. When finished on the north side, the same procedure will follow on the south side of the Monolith (Hall 1 side).
