Erection of the superstructure of the long-range Experimental Halls has begun with the E05 substation building , where precast walls have been placed, while the foundation for the D01 Experimental Hall is being finalised. Casting of the base slab there will follow shortly. The Cryo-Compressor Building (G02) has seen several installations in its two halls, including three large compressors, oil coolers and the large Helium recovery balloon. The Phase Reference Line was installed in the Accelerator tunnel (G01) as planned, which during operation will provide an exact reference for the proton beam’s pulse frequency. Preparations are underway for delivery and installation of the Accelerator’s Ion Source, an in-kind contribution from INFN-Catania that is expected in October. A tent and crane will be installed near the Front End Building drop hatch for this purpose. Works in the Target Station (D02) area continued throughout the summer, including casting of Monolith walls and reinforcement of the first level walls in the Active Cells area. And the Sprinkler Building (H10) has been prepared to receive the concrete for its 60-cm-thick, 9-metre-high walls.
