The first casting of a heavy concrete wall in the Active Cells area of the ESS Target Station (D02) is scheduled for Thursday of this week. This will be an 11-hour casting session including 55 cubic metres of concrete containing iron ore, producing a wall 1.3 metres thick. The base slab for the long-range Instrument Hall (E01) is currently undergoing critical load testing to ensure the slab has the required capacity. Half of the base slab is now equipped with steel framing for the Instrument Hall superstructure. The Green roof layering and fill atop the Gallery Building (G02) is at 40% complete. The topsoil here is a mix of crushed tiles and clay pellets that makes a good seed bed and lightens the load on the Gallery roof. And the Sprinkler Building (H10) is moving closer to its scheduled MEP handover in October, with ongoing preparations for the top slab casting, roofing and installation of a steel plate facade.
