Last week on the construction site brought exciting contributions to the Accelerator installation and several tonnes of new steel reinforcement for the Target Station.
Three new klystrons were received on site, while RF wave guide supports continue to be installed along the length of the Gallery Building (G02). Early installation work for the RF Stubs has also begun. Preparations were made to receive the third and final Coldbox, which will serve to cool the target wheel.
The ESS Temporary Technical Centre has been erected in the Gallery Building. It will serve as a workshop for various trades, like welding and machining, during ESS installations.
In the Accelerator Tunnel (G01), preparations continue for the commissioning of the LINAC’s ion source, which is expected to begin this month.
Outside, the year-long reinforcement and casting of the base slab for the large D01 instrument hall is nearing completion, while nearly the entire Target Station (D02) is receiving reinforcement in preparation for castings in the coming weeks. Interior works continue in the E-buildings.
