The permit application for trial operation of the Normal Conducting Linac has been handed over to SSM this week.
The application, consisting of three folders with a cover letter and a number of USBs, was delivered to SSM in Stockholm by Johan Waldeck, ESS Licensing Project Manager.
This is a major milestone for ESS and marks the end of a two-year effort to get all documentation in place. The work began after ESS received the installation permit in June 2017, and culminated in the second quarter of this year with an Independent Safety Review of revision 9 of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) and Self-Assessment (SA).
Three teams have worked in parallel over the last three months to finalise these three documents, constituting the core of the submission and which were accompanied by more than 400 supporting documents.
