The European Spallation Source is involved in a number of projects funded by both regional and national grants.
ESS is currently involved in projects under the framework Horizon 2020 and the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) programmes of the European Commission. Horizon 2020 is the largest EU programme for research and innovation ever, and encourages breakthroughs to drive economic growth in Europe. Despite the FP7 programme closing in 2013, a limited number of projects funded by FP7 are still running.
Concurrently, ESS is involved in projects funded by Swedish funding agencies such as Vinnova and The Swedish Research Council, Vetenskapsrådet.
The Swedish Research Council’s “Grant for accessibility to infrastructure” (07 June - 21 August) is a great opportunity for Swedish researchers to engage actively in the ESS project, and we welcome new collaborations.
All applicants are asked by the research council (Vetenskapsrådet, or VR) to provide letters of support from the relevant infrastructure, answering six specific questions. In order for ESS to prepare these letters of support, we kindly ask all applicants to express their intentions and provide their draft proposals to us no later than August 10, along with draft letters of support. ESS will not be able to prepare letters of support for requests submitted later than this date.
- A draft of your full proposal, including staffing and budget and other information as requested by VR.
- A draft letter of support [template], answering the six questions to the best of your ability. ESS will use your letter as a basis when we do our evaluation.
