ESS Joins Sweden’s Programme for the Presidency of the Council of the EU

Three days of visits to the ESS facility, organised in the framework of events linked to the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council, offered an exclusive opportunity for key stakeholders to engage directly with the ESS community. Image: Anders Adolvsson/Pyramid.

In the framework of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January-June 2023), several events related to Science and Innovation were organised in Lund. ESS was proud and delighted to take part, both with active participation in conferences and workshops, and by welcoming participants to the ESS site.

On 20 June participants to the conference on “The Potential of Research Data: How Research Infrastructures Provide New Opportunities and Benefits for Society” enjoyed a tour of the facility and talks by Anna Panagopoulou, European Commission ERA & Innovation, Mats PerssonMinister of Education of Sweden, Director General Helmut Schober and ESS scientists and engineers, showcasing the latest progress in the construction of ESS.

More representatives from science infrastructures and science policy institutions from Swedish and European organisations visited ESS on 21 June.
A joint presentation by MAX IV Director Olof Karis and DG Helmut Schober highlighted the unique opportunities offered by the region, creating an eco-system for research and innovation.
