Former ESS colleague, Sébastien Bousson, has passed away

It was with great sadness that ESS received the news that Sébastien Bousson, a former colleague most recently working at IJC-Lab in Orsay, passed away on the weekend.

Sébastien started working with ESS back in 2010, during the design update of the ESS accelerator, and was a key player in ensuring the French in-kind contribution for the spoke Linear Accelerator (LINAC).

He headed the ACCSYS work package for the spoke LINAC for many years, until he was appointed Head of the Accelerator Division at the then newly formed IJC Lab in 2020. Even in this new role, Sébastien continued to ensure solid support for the ni-kind contribution to ESS.

With the spoke cryogenic distribution system now installed and undergoing testing, and 11 out of 13 spoke cryomodules now ready for installation, ESS is approaching the successful completion of deliveries - in no small part thanks to Sébastien.

The thoughts and sympathies of Management and personnel at ESS are with Sébastien’s family.
