Erik D. Ramanathan, the US Ambassador to Sweden, has paid a visit to ESS as part of his visit to Skåne.
Cooperation and international relations continue to be vital to the work at ESS, and are critical in both delivering the project and helping advance science for future generations.
One aspect of this is to greet visiting key figures from around the world and show them the impressive facility, and the progress being made. Today, we were happy to welcome Erik D. Ramanathan, the US Ambassador to Sweden, along with a number of his colleagues. Mr Ramanathan had wanted to see and hear 'first hand' what ESS is and does, and Helmut Schober, ESS Director General, and Kevin Jones, Technical Director, were happy to oblige.
Ari Benderly, Senior Security Officer, Karin Hélène, Senior Executive Assistant to the Director General, and Eszter Lencsés, Visits Coordination Officer, also took part in welcoming the Ambassador's group, who were joined by Lund University's Chancellor, Erik Renström , Chair, Jonas Hafström, and Project Manager for the Office of Special Events and Protocol, Annica Blomberg, for the presentation and site tour, which included a closer look at the klystrons delivered by an American Company.
The last visit by the previous US Ambassador was back in 2020 - who was given a walk around the constuction site. How things have progressed since then!
